I am going to SPECKSAVERS today, free hearing test every three years and free hearing aids,
caused by 20 years on a chipping hammer.

Same problem Doc worked ashore on heavy earthmoving eqpt. open cast mines, motorways etc. as a service engineer and the years of ships engine rooms have taken their toll, no ear muffs in the early days, same as asbestos awareness. We used to reline the brakes on earthmoving twin engine scrapers and rear dump trunks and grind off all the protrusions with windy grinders Blue asbestos particles everywhere. No one made us aware in them days although I am led to believe lots of people new about the long term effects in higher circles than ours as they did with noise levels. Engine evaluation tests winding 2 stroke GM V12s up to full revs ( no ear protection at all )

Worked on them as well Ben but in the main Terex/Euclid , Cat, Deutsch etc. Good days used to meet a few operators ex. M.N. Think in the main better to operate than to repair them : Ken
