    Default Bloods

I often see the catering crowd refer to passengers as "bloods", where did that term originate?

Duke good question often wondered myself . Maybe refers to trying to get blood out of a stone, the stone being the passenger. JWS

Dont know where is originated from Duke but as i have heard many Years back the saying goes that because of the hard Running around the Saloons all day from Dawn to Dusk, the Catering staff mainly of course the Tourist Class Stewards gave their Blood to get all the passengers served and done.
This (Bloods ) thus transferred to the Passengers as a mark of their insolence many a time on Board.
Now that is only the story I have heard there may well ne others!

Bloods originally were the top end of town people, those with money and status, the gentry and royalty of the country.

When sea travel came to the level it was many considered that only the wealthy could afford to travel in such luxury.
They were then referred to as Bloods as many considered that to travel in such manner you had either money or status.
    Happy daze John in Oz.
