The records that I am searching are at family search, if you are not using this already it may be useful to you.

It is free, just need to register. https://www.familysearch.org/search/...973~&offset=60

J Sabourn. #3. With aplogogies to Alison. Donnie B MacLeod was a television presenter in the seventies and eighties remembered for Pebble Mill At One BBC. The B was symbolic, At school there was three Donnie Macleods in the class so the master lettered them A.B.&C. He was B and it stuck with him.

Had a look in my book and the MacLeod I refer tio is an M MacLeod who joined in Chiba I think on February 1970.I left the ship in Durban in March March 1970 I got the impression he was in his 60s at the time. But when you are. Younger yourself anyone with. Grey hair one assumed was related to the old man of the sea.The ship was the Maratha Envoy and was registered in Nassau. Ran by Fife shipping as managers and owned by Chowgule Steamships Bahamas. Was a fairly new ship and built by Mitishuibii. JWS

#15... Bill the 3 brothers who I never met face to face but spoke to via VHF. Were all called Murdo and when I asked someone how come the reply was the father was not bothered and just christened them all. Murdo, too much bother otherwise. The three of them were all skippers of stand by safety vessels. There were plenty of characters in those vessels. One who I sometimes relieved he was ex SAS or so he claimed Carried his own survival suit ( must have been the one and only one in safety boats,) and on way out to the location would put on ,press the MOB buzzer and jump over the side without. Telling anyone. he was living on a hair breadth.
It was only a matter of time before the crew just ignored. I knew of another skipper with only one eye and a false leg that I knew of, any other disabilities he kept to himself.. characters people would just not believe. The one who had a fetish for jumping over the side they had to sack he became a liability. Cheers JWS. PS the posters name Macrae my neighbour 2 doors away has the same title probably his roots are in Scotland although he doesn’t talk with any such accent. Will ask him next time I speak to him.. will make sure first he knows I am not taking the Mickey. Cheers JWS

I was just wondering if there is any error on the Birth Date given,or even perhaps when joining he told them the incorrect date or a Human error as there were many in those days!
The following seems to be so close that I feel it may be him??

    Seaman's Pouch
    Reference: BT 391/65/215
    Description: Name: MacLeod, Malcolm.
    Service number: R178819.
    Date of birth: 20/09/1911.
PS The last info I posted I have removed as there was errors therein!
    Cheers

It would be better to check at the NA Kew to verify this, and also get list of his Ships you are looking for, they will be in his CRS10

    Reference: BT 382/1139
Description: MacLeod Keith to McLeod Neil William
    Date: 1941 Jan 01 - 1946 Dec 31

The Murdo MacLeod drowned in Dundee harbour would have been about 1983. It was one of Seaforth Maritime ships not sure which one but have been Seaforth ????. He would of been a man in his fourties I would imagine. Can’t bring his DOB or dis/no. To mind in memory banks. If Bill out of Seaforth is reading these posts maybe he can recall Murdo. Also was Seaforth funnel marking which looked like the first point of Libra upside down supposed to represent a globular of oil inside a globular of water, or maybe the other way round, or was someone having me on. Cheers JWS.
