Question Joseph Brady Wilson dob 8.11.1904

Hello All. I am wondering if anyone can help me re my grandfather named above. He died when my Mum was 9 ( death 3.8.1949) and she has no photos or information relating to his life other than her childhood memories. I am doing the family tree so have obtained some information. He was born 8.11.1904 in Govan, Glasgow, Scotland and was in the Merchant Navy.

I went to Kew Gardens and obtained his CRS 10 details. However Kew Gardens had his dob wrong and had it as 7.12.1904. I was hoping to find his seamans pouch as I was told that there could be a photograph within these records but I was unsuccessful. I was advised many records have been lost/destroyed over the years.

I know it is a long shot but if I gave details from CR10 would anyone have crew photographs or ship photos. My Mum will be 80 in May of this year and I would love to surprise her with something belonging to her father but in particular a photograph. I have written to medal office and have arranged for his medals to be obtained.

Details from CR10 are as follows
    Rank F/man
    Dis A R145619
    NR no SFWT 91/1
    National service MMG/4/133636
    In notations it shows
    52 Dup TA11788
NR 110 surrendered SFWT 91/1. Granted leave of absence on health grounds 31.12.1942 until 21.1.43. Discharged physically unfit deafness CR8 12.3.43 Glasgow. Per CR 550 or 350?

    A/S prepaid 16.3.43
He served on ship 166305 Pasteur date /place engagement 2.7.41 Greenock F/man . Date /place discharge 12.10.42 Glasgow. It also shows R 24.10.42

Served on Circassian 165916 date/place engagement 27.10.42 . Date place discharge 27.11.42. It also shows RP Glasgow 1.12.42

Served on Svend Foyt 162742 date/place engagement 22.12.42 Glasgow Gas/Fman. Date/place discharge 29.12.42 Greenock R Glasgow at once.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
    Elaine Meechan

Circassia of the Anchor Line or is it CIRCASSIAN of Allan Line,
and the Pasteur, she was French but in WW2 she was taken over by the British and used as a Troopship,

I went to Kew Gardens and obtained his CRS 10 details
    ?

    Hello
I find it rather strange that the CRS10 does not contain a Pic of him when he joined,as that is one of the Items that I always on that Document??
His Seamans Pouch if still available will not hold a Pic and just very basic Details!

Will try and check, but no promises!
    Cheers

You will never find a photo of a seaman on his CRS10.
For WW2 and up to and including 1972 any surviving id photos will be shown on his CR1 card and held within the Seaman's Pouch. There appears to be no surviving pouch for J.B. Wilson sadly.
