M.N War Vets badge, Inscription from the M.O.D. That came with it and two Anchors and a Ships wheel, Got the badge for supplying Gurkha peacekeeping force left behind in Aden after the Brits pulled out of Suez crisis 1969, And later on supplying British squad dies in Belize when that threatened to go off Terry.

The medal beats me Lewis looks very much like the MN veterans badge. Maybe something to do with Lloyd’s. On the inside of the box lid however you may find By Appointment to Her Majesty
Suppliers of Gold and Silver Laces
    Insignia and Silvercraft
    Toye, Kenning and Spencer Ltd.
    London.

Not bad for a half blind person eh,
    Cheers JWS.

Ted what’s the actual wording on the veterans badge. Mine was issued at a later date approx. 36 years after the event. The wording on mine says veteran of HM armed forces. Has this changed over the years.. ? JS

Interesting fact regarding the Titanic that know one can answer, What flag she flew when she sailed on her maiden and only voyage, Red Ensign or Blue Ensign, It was never documented and know one ever caught it clearly enough. Capt Smith was never in the ROYAL NAVY, But was Commodore of the fleet White Star line the decision was his, Although it is thought with his status he would have chosen the Blue Ensign. Terry.

Thanks Vic, I would like to see how Marconigraph.com can be so certain, I done years of research while building that model all reports where the same it will always be an assumption but never certain Regards Vic Terry.

Wouldn’t there have had to be a certain number of RNR reservists on board to fly the blue ensign. His rank of company commodore would have no effect on the ensign. In that era of time and for quite a few years after there was a 5 or 10 pounds fine for entering or leaving a British port and not flying the flag of the country the ship was registered in. That rule I never heard of it being revoked. It just disappeared into the mists of time. The same as over.oading a ship was 100 pound an inch automatically plus a possible gaol term. JWS
