Two nights in Southampton.Mon Sep 11th Southampton (England): Lunch with afriend (who worked in shipping in South Africa), then an hour-long talk (TheLast Atlantic Liners: When Getting There Was Half the Fun) at the SeaCity Museum here and finally dinner with longtime friend & fellowship author David Hutchings. After the talk met some interesting people: a waiter from the Queen Mary, a lady's late uncle was sailed the Ilede France during World War II & while under Cunard operation, anengineer from the Palm Line (UK-Africa freighter service) and formerengineer from the royal yacht Britannia. Seems the yachtcould be noisy – the Queen referring to the "singingpropellers". And when the Queen discovered several cats wereliving onboard: "The cats must go – or the dogs & Igo!"
