Last Friday, Feb 3rd, the 52-yr old USS Enterprise, the famed nuclear carrier, was decommissioned at the Newport News Shipyard in Virginia. She is seen here prior to be towed to Brownsville, Texas to be scrapped. In this view, she is in the adjacent graving dock to one used to construct the liner United States. In fact, the 75-yr old crane on the left was in use when the US Lines' flagship was created.

There used to be a question on the Rule of the Road. Whats 4 white lights in two pairs one above the other. The answer an aircraft carrier at anchor, apparently they carried an anchor light at each corner of the vessel , and when rolling if looking at from abeam would be able to see the four of them at times.
