The changes in words to songs and dirges of various well known pieces which for generations have been there, I sometimes wonder why they have to be changed, is it by well meaning people or just that the words do not fit into todays society. The Lords Prayer for one springs to mind, another For those in peril on the sea, just two of many. Today watching Songs of Praise from a kirk in Scotland a kids choir were singing Over the Sea to Skye, totally different words that I knew as a kid. Maybe it is that the word Sailor no longer means anything to the average person and had to change, also the sea For those in Peril. The following Choir song was Amazing Grace and was pleased to note they hadn't got round to changing the words as of yet, but have no doubt someone will have their sticky fingers into that as well, before long. Cheers JS

Yes John I see the Holy Ghost has been made redundant only to be replaced by the Holy Spirit.Changes in words of bygone days can make sayings and jokes no longer usable as in this case.
Pat and Mick were down on their luck and only had 1.00 left to their name. They decided to put it on a horse 1.00 win. They placed their bet and went into church to say a few prayers.
They were kneeling at the alter,Pat says,Hail Mary full of grace let Lester Piggott win this race.
Mick says Our Father which art in heaven let it win at a hundred to seven.
A voice comes from the back of the church,it's no good praying to the Holy Ghost Lester Piggott was left at the post, there was the parish priest standing there.
Holy Spirit doesn't quite fit in there.
Regards.

Bit of a senile moment there Terry, it was Jim B who posted the previous thread. No worries it happens to all of us. The number of times I go in to a room or a cupboard in the kitchen and then try to work out why the hell I am there. However it does dawn on me eventually.
