Well chaps Cappy mentioned a week or so ago that he had not seen me on line and john Gill replied maybe he has gone ashore for a loaf and got lost.I didn't get lost going for a loaf but I got lost down some black hole for eight days due to what the doctor said was a "water infection" I've never known anything like it drifting in and out of sleep and fevers.I know at it's peak I thought this is the worst that I have ever felt in my life and on a couple of occasions my wife was on the verge of calling an ambulance as she thought I had pneumonia.I always thought a water infection was some mild thing which caused some discomfort when going for a pee, since suffering this I've been reading up on it and it can be quite a serious thing.I noticed it was an effort getting dressed puffing and blowing and out of breath I thought this is after three weeks of being inactive so as I got better I thought I better start getting some exercise,I'l start with walking to the shop for my paper.not to far shop there and back but by the time I got back to the house I was knackered and blowing for tugs.I then read this infection can cause chronic fatigue and the answer is rest not pushing it.Anyway that's the story of my water infection and I wonder if any of you have had the misfortune of suffering this and if so was it as severe as what I suffered. The fevers were one where I would wake up soaking wet with sweat and hot and the other where my body was crunched up and I was iced cold and shaking like a leaf.Anyway I turned to the best medicine ever yesterday I got my wife to run me down to the pub to meet up with my mates and get a good few pints of John Smiths down me,that should flush me out.
Whilst I was at the doctors the doctor asked could he examine me for prostate problems,I gave him the OK. he confirmed prostate enlarged, nothing unusual in that for my age 8 out of 10 men apparently what I need now is a clear or favourable PSA result.I went for the blood test yesterday but I wouldn't let the nurse carry it out because there is still a water infection present so will have to wait until that clears up.So that's the reason for me being AWOL and thanks to those who have been in touch I was looking in and fancied replying to some post's but never had the energy todo so.
Regards.

Good on ya Jim, take it easy, and glad to have you back. As far as a enlarged prostate is concerned, the test not pleasant as you know, but i have the same problem and am on tablets called petyme (very appropiate ), but is not sinister in guys our age the Dr said. So best of luck and a quick recovery, regards KT

Jim I had a similar thing about 4 years ago and like Keith I was put on Petyme and it cleared it up right away. I have been on it ever since, one tablet a day. It makes me pee properly, but if I miss one pill it comes back straight away, the pain, other than that everythings ok.
Hope you get everything sorted out soon and it clears up. See you on the 6th.June.

John

Apologies first Brenda, but couldn't resist

Two ladies fighting in the street, policeman comes up and says 'now then! now then! what's all this about'

Lady 1 said 'Well I is pregnant and the doctor told me to bring a sample, not wanting to appear ignorant I said yes, but didn't know what he meant. Well I asked Liza here what's a sample and she told me to go pizz in a bottle, so I told her to sheet in her hat and that's how the fight started!'

Running the meet-ups means popping into the P&W now and then showing ones face and getting a bit familiar with the staff not a bad little job realy.Due to some other commitments that have cropped up I will not be able to get to the P&W on the run-in to the meet-up so Gilly has thankfully agreed to do the honours and visit the venue and keep the staff reminded of the date how many we are expecting and providing sarnies for same.I will be there on the day.So things are going ahead as normal.
Regards.
Jim.B.

By the way we could do with a few more names so if you haven't put your name in the hat don't think about it go ahead and do it.

Sorry Kong.Surely a man of your experience would be aware that the Spare Rib Hunting Season won't begin for another fortnight. Anyone found poaching can expect severe penalties.(denizens of a certain street in Boltonistan need not be concerned). Gilly

Sorry chaps two weeks tomorrow is right it must be these antibiotics that I am still on.I'm glad it's two weeks away, anyway I've been out today to test the gear and I just about managed three pints of John Smiths so hopefully in two weeks I'l be back on form.Sorry Brian you will not be getting any spare ribs this week at the Titanic Hotel they are reserved for the meet-up at the Pen&Wig so if you want to indulge in Mrs Gills renowned delicacy you will have to make that trip from Boltonistan to Liverpool, well worth the trip I may add..

Just got back from the meet-up all hands enjoyed themselves it was nice to see them all again and plenty of craic going on.I want to thank Gilly for organising the day a very good buffet was laid on and Gilly managed to get the bar at happy hour prices the bar staff realy made us feel welcome and looked after us.But the highlight of the day to all hands is the spare ribs supplied and cooked by gilly's good lady, they went down a treat.Somebody suggested that we have a minutes silence for Lou but as I said at the time that it would not be appropriate in the surroundings,to give you an idea there was a stag party there a gang of lads from Ebbw Vale plus another gang of lads having a drink.Dont get me wrong they weren't boisterous in anyway but the crowds are still there.Even to give a speech regarding Lou would've been a bit difficult so we all stood together and George gave a few words we raised our glasses to Lou and photos were taken which will be posted. All in all a good meet-up and I'm sure those that attended will want to do it all again.
Regards.
