Well at last i have received the Crew lists for the Ships i sailed on with the UCL and i am posting the one that i refer to as my First love! haha!:) The old Dunnottar Castle! First Ship served on and her last trip to KG5 under the UCL Colours!

These lists show R Numbers of those on page, also wages page etc
Hope you will enjoy all ex UCL Guys!

It took quite a long time for them to get here from Canada (28days)and thats by Air mail!
Anyway i am happy at last that i now have all my papers etc together, and this has now completed my searching for all my Merchant Navy and Royal Ait Force papers!

It s great to be able to have all these small things in life to pass onto ones Children,as we all are getting older, and sadly one day there will just be paperwork and memories of all us old Seadogs! hhaa!:D

Al the best!

Hi Vernon.
Congratulations mate job well done. But tell me how do you get the time?
These pre Boudica gold coins were found in an English field, I think they are what you use to bribe your wife to leave you alone with the puter.
Cheers Des

Vrnon mate they are great, even shows your address in Cape Town, now we know where to send the bar bills to. Amazing that all that info still exists but to find out all the crew on all the voyages any one sailed on would take a lot of time to source.

Hi John,
Yes it is amazing what they still hold there as do the NA of course, but as you mentioned takes a lot of research time and effort to get full lits, but it can be done i hear! Costs though are a bit steep,so i only ordered what i really wanted!
I had ordered 4 Ships (only one Voyage each) as to get all my trips would have cost too much! Also only requested the pages that my name appeared on! So just for the 16 pages i got it was Canadian $98 not too bad!! Ouch!!:)
But anyone can get the full listings if they wanted! Got enough cash mate haha!:D
All the best

HimDes.
I dont suppose that you have any idea as to where these
particular coins were found.Ive lost my collection and these
seem to look very much like the ones I lost.I am offering a
substantial reward say 50-50????.

Hi Castleman

I saw your thread heading "Crew list" and thought you might like to take a look at a website I recently uploaded (www.bandccrewlists.co.uk) of crew lists taken from the Brithish & Commonwealth Review magazines dating 1959 to 1970, unfortunately quite a few magazines are missing particularly in the early years.
Kind regards
Oldseadog (ex Union-Castle Engineer)

Have seen that site before Vernon and it is very good. Problem is it only shows the officers and petty officers with no mention of the workers.

Yes mate that is awesome3,and as said i am waiting on the postman!

I am also now thinking of applying for the other Ship Crew lists that i served on,will total about Australian Dollars $280 which is not too bad!
But that would bring grand total spent to $460 Aus!But worth it as you say~
Cheers:)

Well i am editing this at12.58pm to add this!
Postman delivered the Docs and i must say there is a lot of info there as well as the Full Crew! 88 pages this lot!

hi vern,
these lists give you a lot.when i got the two lists for the sugar importer, there were seven people on their first trip so they have been added to the flag.
just think how many names you could get on a new flag if you just put their names and registration number only.i have done that with another flag and filled it up in one day.!!!
what ever anyone says,i think its worthwhile getting the crew list, its all part of our history.

Yes Mike fully agree with you on that mate, its a good part og our History, and stories of our past!
Indeed a heck of a lot of info given n these lits, and all those names!
Yes to make Flags of what you suggest would be quite easy to fill, but then where do we put all these Flags hey Mike! May be just hang them up around the House for keepsakes! It would be nice though!
I have seen 7 chaps that i distictly remember, and one especially as he was the chap who took me to Putney to meet his Parents, and waht a wonderfull stay i had there with them! Amazing the memories!
What did you think of that report i posted )the one Pic) about the Fight! Happened a lot at Sea!
Oh well now to think on getting the rest of the Ships Crew Lists, actually one i really should get too is the trip that my late Brother was on with me! Sterling Castle!
Cheers Mike hope all is well there with you and Family!
Regards to all!
