Welcome James.

I think there have been similar queries over the last few years.
I typed in 'Careers' into the SEARCH tab on our main page and came up with at least one thread HERE. (http://www.merchant-navy.net/forum/f3/too-old-training-2845/)

Worth a read(2 pages, with a few links to recruitment sites).

All the Best

Hi James
Well one is never to old to try anything ,so hope that you get what you want in the end mate!
Just go for it!
Even if you have to start at the bottom, and work your way up!
Well thats more than likely waht you may have to do,unless you of course have some other Qualifications!
Cheers and good hunting!
