Hello everyone

I was doing some research online the other day, as it will be my grandads 80th birthday next Saturday and I am organising a wee surprise party for him to mark the occassion.

I was only looking for pictures of the ship to put on a mug and his card etc and came acroos this fantastic website. So if anyone could help me in trace photos or memories (if any) that i could give to him on his birthday I would really appreciate this and sure that he would also.

He is always talking about his time in the Merchant Navy and how he sailed on the Queen of Bermuda from New York to Bermuda. He was a baker on the ship in 1956 and was only on a year, as my gran had young family, but he had to go and and serve his passion on the Queen of Bermuda.

His name was James Morrison McAfee (Jim), he was originally from Greenock in Scotland, but moved to Dundee when he met and married my gran after they met in the Army xx

If anyone has anything - it would make his day. xx

Many thanks for looking

I had an old friend, Terry Howson, we were brought up together as little kids, he lived next door.
I joined the Merchant Navy first and then he followed a couple or so years later when he completed his engineering apprenticeship. He became an engineer on the Queen of Bermuda, He met a very extremely, exceedingly wealthy American billionairess and married her. I have never seen him since then in 1957.
Some Guys get all the luck.

My Grandad was an RSM on this Ship during WW2 . I had lived at my current address for several years and found out only recently my Neighbours Dad was the Chief Engineer onboard at the time - small world . An excellent ship !!!!!!

Hi Samantha, there is a web site called British ships pictures were you may get a photo. Also there is a great site of ships paintings were you can purchase and commision a painting of your dads ship. I forget the name of the site now but if you input ships paintings you will come across it. Hope this helps.
