    Hi Lou,
Austin Morris a Steward on the GC lived around Ellesmere Port area and died around ten years or so ago.

When I was searching for information of a family friend, Joe Farnworth, I recieved a letter from the Einion Rees . unfortunately I cannot find it anywhere, this was around 12 years ago. they lived in Essex
I did hear that Evan Alcyn Rees after suffering from the mental and physical scars of the Japanese treatment stayed home for two years then rejoined Union Castle as a Quartermaster and sailed on the mail ships with his younger brother Einon.
Einon was sunk and taken prisoner when the Roxburgh Castle was sunk.
Another brother, Louis, , was taken prisoner by the Italians and interred in a German Camp.
Another brother , the 4th, was captured by the Germans while serving in the RAF.
their parents got the four telegrams , Missing in action,
They had memorial Services for them. Then they all turned up after the war.
    .
Another Steward, whos name I cannot remember, was repatriated after the war and was killed on a motor bike in January 1946.
    .
    .
    Hope this helps Lou.
    Cheers
    Brian.

I was just going through some papers and i see that have missed a few names of G\Castle and i am hoping that someone might know of them .R .Boland(Paddy) ,P McGee ,J.Cordelland and Harold Baker ,Now this may sound a tale but this is a very true story ,it concerns Harold Baker and it happened in a Dunedin Pub in 1950 ,I and some of my wives Family was in the Vic pub standing at the bar and next to me with our backs to one anther then he turned round me to and with a look of amazement it was one of my old pow mates we had a few times together with our wives but he died in about 1954 , He and Barry Lane was the only guys that i met up with

    Default Clement Weir

Hi Guys, I have just found your site and wonder if anyone would have any information about Clement Weir who was lost when the Gloucester Castle was sunk. He was my uncle and only 16 , an Ordinary Seaman. His brother ,my uncle John , also went down with the SS Traveller off New York.
Regards, Dave Hewson ( Canada )
